GammaTech Durabook Rugged Notebook Chosen by Mobile, Ala.

The Durabook D14RM to Be Used in Department Vehicles Features 14" HD Sunlight Readable Display, LED-Illuminated Keyboard, and an HDMI and Four USB Ports

FREMONT, CA - August 7, 2012 - GammaTech Computer Corp., a major international manufacturer and supplier of innovative notebook and tablet computers, has been chosen by the city of Mobile, Ala., to supply vehicles in its Fire-Rescue department with notebook computers. After conducting field tests that included GammaTech and several competitors' products, the city chose the rugged Durabook D14RM. Features include a 14" sunlight-readable HD display, LED illuminated keyboard, Intel? Montevina technology, smart-card reader, fingerprint scanner, TPM 1.2 technology, and four USB and one HDMI ports.

"We field tested several laptops in some of our fire trucks to see what would work best for us," stated Steve Huffman, Public Information Officer City of Mobile Fire-Rescue. "The Durabook D14RM was able to take the punishment of being in a fire truck and outlasted any of the others we tested. You might say it was firefighter tested, because we can be pretty rough on our equipment."

Like all Durabook notebooks, the D14RM is built to withstand harsh environments and resist vibration and shock. It tested to stringent MIL-STD-810G requirements for drop, shock and spill resistance and all input/output ports are fully dust resistant. Its rugged durability and magnesium alloy case, which is 20 times stronger than ABS plastic, make the GammaTech D14RM notebook the perfect choice for all public safety applications.

"Fire and emergency medical personnel need computers that they can depend on when they need them," stated Jen Chen, GammaTech president. "Our D14RM notebook is built tough to ensure the reliability and performance that the Mobile fire and rescue department needs to do their jobs. With its superior wireless connectivity, firemen and emergency medical personnel are kept in constant contact with department headquarters and other city officials."

Huffman added, "The D14RM was within our budget. Like so many other agencies, we have been experiencing some tough times during the sluggish economy. Although we received a grant to purchase laptops, we still had to be cost conscious in making our purchase. GammaTech was at the right price without compromising durability and our needs."
